showHTML browser extension

showHTML is a web browser extension that displays HTML details as you hover over page elements.  An element's tag name, ID (if any) and classes (if any) will be displayed in a text stripe at the top or bottom of the page.

Usage

When you click on the showHTML icon in the browser header, a text stripe will be displayed either at the top or bottom of the page, depending on how you have the options configured.  Hovering over an HTML element on the page (including html and body) will cause that element's tag name, ID (if it has one), and any assigned classes to be displayed in the text stripe.

Clicking on the text stripe will toggle its position between the top and bottom of the browser window.

Options

showHTML currently has three configurable options.  These options are stored by the extension.

Theme

Theme can be set to Dark (light text on a dark background) or Light (dark text on a light background).  By default, the dark theme is selected.

Font Size

The font size can be set to Small, Medium, or Large.  By default, it will be set to Medium.  The font size can vary by web page.

Location

Location refers to the position of the text stripe, and can be either Top or Bottom.  Top is the default position.  The location of the text stripe can be toggled during use, but unless this setting is changed, the initial position when you run showHTML won't be altered.

Browser Support

showHTML is currently available for the following browsers:
Chrome
Opera
Firefox

Known Issues

Chrome & Opera:

Sometimes when clicking on the text stripe to toggle its position, the first click won't be registered. This issue typically only happens the first time, and a single click toggles the text stripe every time after that.

Firefox:

When showHTML is first installed, some text might overlap in the text stripe on first use.

If you discover any other bugs or issues, please leave a comment here, or fill out the support form on the extension page for your browser.  The more details, the better.
